Urban Design

Urban Design

Urban design and human health are closely linked. Driving scientific inquiry are questions on how density impacts regional cliamte, air quality, crime, noise etc.  Geographic considerations, economics, policitics and societal factors drive the options in planning and design to achieve healthy communities. Given our planet is facing rapid urbanization, the importance of Urban Design is of immediate significance.

This Virtual Organization seeks to achieve an exchange of ideas of sucessful and un-sucessful designs based on sound science and engineering. It is expected in the near-term we will have a strong platform of data and models available for use by local and regional planning agencies.
