On August 3rd around 1.30 a.m. over 2,000 residents in Mississippi and Louisana lost power possibly from a thunderstorm.

Toyko Electric Power announced that over 560,000 households in the Yamanashi Prefecture (central Japan) were without power due a major power outage-possibly from lightning.

S. California Fire Knocks Out Transformers Leaving 25,000 Without Power: July 28, 2008

Transformers knocked out by a grass fire in Reche Canyon caused a power failure Tuesday afternoon that affected about 25,000 Southern California Edison customers.
Edison spokesman Jeremy Rawitch said the blackout hop-skotched through neighborhoods from Loma Linda and south Colton into San Bernardino.
The grass fire covered about a half-acre.

July 2, 2008-Over 200,000 customers without power again in Michigan.  A line of severe thunderstorms has swept across Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, bringing heavy rains, strong winds and hail and blacking out about 203,000 homes and businesses.
